Nomads of Galerie Sehnsucht

I'm a member of Nomads of Sehnsucht, a dynamic collective of photographic artists.  Rooted in curiosity and a desire to explore the medium's potential, my collective creates work that transcends traditional photography, aiming to develop a distinct visual language that captures the essence of indefinable desires—Sehnsucht.

We utilize a diverse array of techniques, from digital innovations to the timeless craft of analogue photography. Whether through cutting-edge technology or meticulous darkroom processes, each work is an associative visual journey that reflects the unique vision of its creator. This blend of methodologies fosters a rich tapestry of work that is both thought-provoking and visually captivating.

As a collective, we are committed to engaging with our public beyond the confines of a traditional gallery. Our nomadic nature allows us to host pop-up exhibitions and events in various locations. Our nomadic approach ensures that our work is seen and appreciated in diverse contexts.

History

Galerie Sehnsucht started out as a gallery of photographic art at the iconic Hofbogen in Rotterdam, giving emerging and seasoned photographers a change to exhibit their work. Galerie Sehnsucht was founded by Mark van Hattem en Mariska Pool in 2018. After some years the gallery decided to exchange the permanent location for a nomadic existence, organising pop-up exhibitions outside the former gallery walls.
