Who knows, in January, King Winter will turn the world white in January? It will not be the Haagse Kunstkring! In the January month, the Hoge Zaal is given a white appearance by an exhibition in which members participate with 'white work'.
I show my flower still life Delft White. This still life in off-white shades and winter pastels is based on a jug (in the style of) 'Delft White' found in a thrift store in Delft. Sources of inspiration for the flower still life were the 17th century painter Balthasar van der Ast, who lived in Delft for the last 25 years of his life, and the famous 'witjes' of the painter Jacob de Wit, playing puttis, painted pastel white on pastel white. The work is part of the Preserved
project: flower still lifes from various style periods made from artificial flowers and props from thrift stores.
